Foster Care Liaison

The Potosi R-3 School District recognizes that students in foster care face unusual educational
challenges. We work diligently to provide foster care students with educational stability and
remove barriers to, and provide opportunities for, academic excellence for foster care students. In
order to achieve this purpose, we will work collaboratively with the Missouri Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Children’s Division (CD) of the Missouri
Department of Social Services.
The district has designated Associate Superintendent, Mrs. Marty Portell, as the Foster Care
Point of Contact. In addition, Social Worker, Mr. Bryce Wilson, is the assistant. If you have any
questions regarding services for students in foster care, please contact Mr. Wilson or Mrs.

Maintenance

The Potosi R-III School District maintenance crew is responsible for the repair and maintenance of buildings and grounds.

The Department uses a computerized inventory and work order system to keep on top of the work.

All of the buildings and lighting are computer-controlled for optimal efficiency, controlled by a Trane automation.

Transportation

The Potosi R-3 Transportation Department maintains a bus fleet of over 40 buses. The Transportation Department was recognized by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Department of Education for the past five years for earning a 96% or above on their annual bus inspection.
