Annie McCaul
Ms. Annie McCaul has been selected for induction in the Potosi Trojan Hall of Fame for the class of 2022-23. She is a 2022 graduate of Potosi High School and was the 2022 MSHSAA Class 3 State Champion in the 300m Hurdles. Annie is the first female to earn a state championship as an individual or team member in Potosi High School history.
While at Potosi High School Annie was involved in different clubs and sports. She was a member of National Honor Society; Student Council; Future Farmers of America and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Annie could always be found on the court or on the track after school as she was an extremely dedicated athlete. Annie was a four year varsity athlete for all three seasons playing Volleyball, Basketball and Track and Field. She also participated in Cross Country when time permitted. Annie was able to manage all of these activities and graduated with a 4.10 GPA!
Annie’s love for running began early for her after winning the annual Kindergarten cross country race. From that point on she never lost this race winning it 6 more years until she was no longer eligible to run it. Annie had a great Junior High track and field career setting a new school 100m hurdles record as well as being a member of the school record setting 4x400m relay team.
While in high school Annie continued to work toward her dream of becoming a state champion 300 meter hurdler. Annie was the Conference, District and Sectional Champion for the 300m Hurdles and 100m Hurdles. She was also All-Conference in the 100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, 200m Dash and 200m Relay. Annie was All-District in the 100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, 200m Dash and 200m Relay qualifying for the MSHSAA State Finals in all four of these events. Annie was also the runner up to the State Champion in the 100m Hurdles at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Finals.
Annie set two Potosi High School records as part of her championship season. Annie set a new record time of 44.31 for the 300m Hurdles at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Finals. She also set a new record time of 15.05 seconds in the MSHSAA Class 3 Sectionals for the 100m Hurdles.
She was awarded the Track and Field Academic All-State award, has been selected for the KTJJ Regional Radio Dream Team for Track and Field two years in a row. Annie was also selected as the KTJJ Regional Radio Dream Team Track and Field athlete of the year as well as the Daily Journal Parkland Athlete of the Year for Track and Field.
Annie is currently attending the University of Missouri-Columbia majoring in Animal Sciences and working toward her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She is involved in the Collegiate Cattlewomen’s and Pre Veterinarian club. Annie is also a student council representative at Mizzou. She plans on returning to Washington County after graduating veterinarian school. Annie looks forward to practicing in the community that she loves so much and supported her so much throughout her time at PHS.
Bryan McKinney
Staff Sergeant Bryan McKinney is a 2001 graduate of Potosi High School where he was an active member of the student body. Bryan started taking lessons from Dr. Marc Fulgham of Southeast Missouri State University and earned first chair in the Missouri All-State Band his junior and senior years. Bryan went on to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. At Northwestern, he received a Bachelors and Masters in Trumpet Performance and Education. He went on to perform with the Chicago Civic Orchestra while teaching privately throughout the greater Chicago area. After earning a prestigious appointment in the West Point Military Academy Band, he joined the Army, where he began serving in 2010. While in the military, he has been named as one of the elite Hellcat Buglers performing over 1000 military honors and funerals. He has also performed for presidents, royalty, the United Nations, foreign dignitaries, and for live television broadcasts. He has traveled overseas to perform in the United Kingdom, as well as programmed and performed a joint service video for Memorial Day with a British counterpart honoring the fallen of both countries. He has played the opening for Indy car races, the US Open Tennis Tournament, NFL games, the American Kennel Club National Championship dog show at Madison Square Gardens, the Belmont Stakes horse races, and many other events.
