Potosi Lady Trojans – Class 3 Volleyball State Champions
This year’s Trojan Hall of Fame inductee is the Class 3 Volleyball State Champions, a team that left an indelible mark on Potosi High School’s athletic history. The Lady Trojans concluded their remarkable season with a record of 27-9-1, showcasing their skill, determination, and teamwork. This season was undoubtedly one for the record books as the Lady Trojans brought home the school’s first female Team State Championship. Along the way, they earned Potosi High School’s third District Title, adding to the legacy established by the 1977 and 1992 teams.
Their journey to the championship was nothing short of extraordinary. In the postseason, the Lady Trojans triumphed over some of the best teams in the state, beginning with an intense Sectional game against Cape Notre Dame, where they dropped just one set before securing the win. From there, they defeated Notre Dame St. Louis in the Quarterfinals, Odessa in the Semifinals, and Logan-Rogersville in the State Final Game in straight sets. Each match demonstrated their unwavering focus, dominance and perseverance as they struggled mid season with injury and minor setbacks.
By winning their first ever state playoff games and culminating the season with a State Championship, the Lady Trojans cemented their place in school history. Their success brought pride and inspiration to their community, serving as a testament to their hard work, resilience, and dedication to excellence on and off the court.
